Stoneware Café
Stoneware Café is seeking a Working Kitchen Manager to support our small but growing kitchen, including oversight of our boxed lunch program for local businesses, groups, and events. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys being on the line, supporting daily prep and service, and helping manage small-scale food programs in a low-volume kitchen environment.
This position is best suited for someone who values consistency, teamwork, and practical leadership, and who is interested in supporting steady food growth in a café setting.
• Pay: $16–$17 per hour
• Hours: 20–25 hours per week
• Schedule: Daytime shifts, afternoon shift
Hands-On Kitchen Work
• Work on the line
• Assist with food prep, cooking, and cleaning
• Support daily kitchen flow
Kitchen Oversight
• Support day-to-day kitchen operations
• Maintain food quality and consistency
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Assist with inventory awareness and communication
Boxed Lunch Program
• Oversee preparation and execution of boxed lunch orders
• Coordinate timing and kitchen flow for group and business orders
• Ensure accuracy, quality, and presentation of boxed lunches
• Communicate order needs and timing with front-of-house staff
Team Support
• Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff
• Help train new or existing team members
• Communicate clearly and calmly during service
Growth Support
• Assist with menu features and specials
• Help support food sales and boxed lunch growth
• Offer feedback to improve kitchen efficiency
• ServSafe certification required
• At least 1 year of kitchen management experience
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to lead while actively working
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable in a small kitchen
This is a working leadership position in a small kitchen with modest daily volume. The focus is on consistency, organization, and gradual growth, including the boxed lunch program. The right person will help maintain standards while supporting opportunities to grow food service in a manageable, sustainable way.
Stoneware Café & Bordertown Made
Starting Pay: $9.08 per hour
Hours: 10–20 hours per week | Part-time
As a Café & Retail Crew Member, you’ll be part of both of our unique spaces inside Red Wing’s Pottery Place. Stoneware Café is on the second floor and Bordertown Made is on the first floor. This is a hands-on, customer service driven role that combines food service, retail, and customer connection.
(Stoneware Café – 2nd Floor)
• Prep and plate our homemade food recipes while ensuring freshness and quality
• Brew coffee, serve Stockholm Pie, and provide warm, attentive service
• Maintain cleanliness and follow food safety standards (ServSafe certification preferred, or willing to obtain)
• Help create a welcoming, friendly atmosphere for all guests
(Bordertown Made – 1st Floor)
• Greet and assist customers with knowledge about our locally made goods from Minnesota and Wisconsin
• Operate the POS system and handle transactions accurately
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and organization while at work
• Restock shelves and maintain inviting, well-organized product displays
• Support the merchandising and visual presentation of the store
• Move between floors during shifts as needed, mainly staying in Bordertown Made to greet our customers
• Bring a positive, team-oriented attitude every day
• Be adaptable and enjoy a variety of daily tasks
